In 2021 JGC acted for an established almond grower located in north-west regional Victoria in the management of a planning permit and associated approvals to establish a $60m processing plant on the property. Our work involved collaborating with a team of professionals to consider issues associated with fire risk, native vegetation and the interface of freehold land. The project was time sensitive and therefore consultation with opposing landholders was critical. The negotiation resulted in resolving all outstanding issues with the application without the need for a hearing at the Tribunal. Construction of the state-of-the-art almond processing facility has now been completed and is achieving the client’s objective of a “pack-to-grade” quality in one pass.
